Monthly Challenge – Food Photography

I recently joined another blog circle of photographers where we will have different monthly challenges. While I  missed the first month’s “close-up” portraiture, I joined in time to try my hand at food photography.

As I have not been home for a while, I didn’t get much time to play around with this. It’s kind of fun! I think I will experiment a little more as time allows.

For this one, I thought trying to mimic still-life food paintings might be neat. Now, I don’t have a lot of space and the best light I get is next to my high-chair. If I could try this again, I would have a small table on which I could drape my table linen.

This first attempt was before I read about how you should edit images for food.
Then I read that actual colors are best and I should not do any adjustments. So, I ended up with this. While I like that there is black in the background, I did not like that it draped over the high-chair. So my eldest held it up for me. (And I did not like that either.) So, for next time I would lay it out as I mentioned earlier.

I do, however, prefer the apple on the left lying down.

This last one is to remember how my husband always makes me such beautiful breakfasts. This also happens to be my quasi-paleo staple breakfast. Pretty colors, right? And fresh greens from our garden. Yum, yum.

Please continue through the circle and check out Lisa’s food challenge photos at http://lisarappaphotos.blogspot.com/2013/03/2013-cm-blog-circle-food-photography.html.
