Every Day Moments – Just Barely!

My camera was returned to me yesterday – yay! However, that means I have not been able to capture many moments of the little ones lately. I am pretty bummed that I missed Ilus’s 5 month pictures – this past month has certainly been one full of step-function growths!

Last week she finally started rolling. Out of nowhere, Miss I-Hate-Tummy-Time got so upset, she just rolled on over. And today she was giving us some really solid moments of sitting. Talk about moving up those steps!

Remember how I once, long ago, mentioned I should get a voice-recorder? Well, I should still get one! Our little Ilus is buzzing with so many sounds. While I may have thought she’d be more the calm and quiet silent type, it seems I got her all wrong. Looks like we will have another talker on our hands (they all love to talk, talk, talk.)

I’ve also been meaning to make a note of how Thomas gave her her first laugh. It is a mother’s dream to see her children enjoying each other’s company. And I don’t know how he does it, but Little Man can do Ilona no wrong. She adores him and his crazy antics. He will rock her exersaucer, spread his hands all over and around her face, dance like a crazy man in front of her, smother her with kisses, cover her in blankets (this one I don’t tolerate very well)… and she loves it all.

Then Isabel looks on with a little bit of jealousy. “Why won’t she laugh for me?” That is always followed by her imitating Thomas in the hopes of getting a similar response from her baby sister. It must be a sister thing. Despite all that, Isabel continues to take care of her. Whenever she hears Ilus cry she goes to pick her up and tries to console her. She will help me feed her, too (not her favorite job.)

Speaking of Isabel, she continues to strike me with wonder at how well she memorizes poems and verses. Memorizing is a key part of our homeschooling here and I have to admit I am a bit envious of how easily it comes to her. She inspires me to find creative ways to challenge her and I cannot wait to start doing plays, monologues and shows with her.

I quit Facebook for Advent this year and I have to say I don’t miss it at all! The only thing that strikes me is that I figured I’d have all this extra time, but I don’t! I wanted to make sure that I spend more time off the computer during the Christmas season – though I don’t think I was on it that much, relatively – and it is working. Many times I don’t even see my emails until very late at night. This also keeps me off my phone. It’s amazing! Of course, this means much less work is done on my computer, fewer pictures, fewer rants… I thought maybe I’d get more reading and sleep time in, but I haven’t figured those parts out just yet.

So, if I can’t get to it before (but I hope I do because we really need to get our family Christmas picture done! It will be late, I’m sure!) I want to wish everyone a very healthy, a very safe, a very blessed, and a very Merry Christmas! There is SO much to be thankful for.

Our house is pretty dark, thank goodness for high ISO!!
