My Birthday Man

My Dear Craig,

It is only one hour from your birthday and, though I have been thinking about how to express all that I feel for you for weeks now, I have come up short.

Your home-sewn tie is sitting next to me in the shape of its materials as I am too nervous to cut the fabric; your knit hat is only 3/5 done hiding in my purse; I started hand-writing you a letter but could not bring myself to finish it. I have been planning for so long to hand you a Made By Andrea gift but the eternal procrastinator in me could not get to the finish line this time. And while I have the vision in my head of how perfect your carrot cake will taste and look tomorrow, I only hope it will make it to the oven on time.

You work so hard for all of us, you are completely selfless. You never, ever complain and you make me laugh while I am crying. I love you more than I can possibly show you and am full of gratitude for all that you do for us.
